Violence Breaks Out in KwaMashu as Pupils Protest Over Alleged Abduction of Children

Violent protests have broken out in parts of KwaMashu following reports of four children allegedly abducted on their way to school yesterday morning.

Spaza shops belonging to foreign nationals in the area were looted and torched in a fresh wave of xenophobic violence on Monday night following a rumour that foreign nationals had been responsible for the recent child abductions.

Kwazulu-Natal police have however assured the public that the situation is under control but officers were still monitoring the area. According to reports, no-one had been arrested yet, but cases of public violence were opened.
